I'm so confused on what to install and the order to install it.

I installed the full featured software package.  Then I installed the Universal Scan Driver.  Then the OCR add on software.

I had a link to the scanner, now it asks me to choose between 2 when I open it.  However, there is a NEW scan link that opens the correct one (with OCR).  When I go into device manager, I have THREE HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Series listed under the imaging devices.

I feel like I installed everything in the wrong order.  How do I get rid of the duplicates?

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

How to Remove Duplicate HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Series Entries and Reinstall Drivers Properly

Part 1 – Remove All Duplicate Entries

Open Devices and Printers
Press Windows + R, type control printers, and press Enter.
Remove all HP 9010 entries
Right-click every HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series entry and select Remove device.
Remove all printer, scanner, and fax icons.
Remove from Device Manager
Press Windows + X and open Device Manager.
Click View and select Show hidden devices.
Expand Printers, Imaging devices, and Software devices.
Uninstall anything related to HP OfficeJet 9010, HP Scan, or WSD/USB devices.
Remove driver packages
Press Windows + R, type printui /s /t2, and press Enter.
Go to the Drivers tab.
Remove HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series and any duplicate HP drivers.
Uninstall HP software
Go to Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps.
Uninstall HP Smart, HP full feature software, and any HP scan or OCR software.
Restart the computer

Part 2 – Reinstall in Correct Order

Disconnect the printer
Turn off the printer and disconnect USB or Wi-Fi temporarily.
Install the correct driver first
Download and install the HP full feature driver or use HP Smart.
Do not connect the printer yet.
Run the installer
Start installation.
When prompted, connect the printer using USB (preferred) or Wi-Fi.
Complete installation
Allow the setup to finish completely including printer, scanner, and network components.
Restart the computer again

Part 3 – Verify

Check Devices and Printers
Only one HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series entry should appear.
Check scanner
Open Windows Scan or scanner settings.
Only one scanner should be listed.

Important Tips

Do not switch frequently between USB and Wi-Fi
Use only one installation method (HP Smart or full driver, not both together)
Avoid using WSD ports unless required
Always reinstall using the same connection type

If the issue continues

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
Reset the print spooler
Type the following in Command Prompt:

net stop spooler
del /Q /F %systemroot%\System32\spool\PRINTERS*
net start spooler

This process removes duplicates and ensures only one printer and scanner instance is installed properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
