HP Color Laser 150nw

Hi,

I'd like to share a solution to reset the EWS password on a HP Color Laserjet 150nw printer which worked for me. There are several posts but they are already closed and don't have the right solution.

To reset the password, simply download the current firmware for that printer and follow the steps described in the PDF that comes with the download to perform a firmware update with an usb connection.

- For this, a windows notebook is required (Mac OS / Smartphone does not work)

- The firmware update needs to be processed by an USB connection. Firmware update without USB requires the admin password

Detailed steps:

- Connect the printer by USB directly to the pc / notebook

- Download firmware from HP download support page for HP Color Laserjet 150nw on a windows notebook

- Extract the files to a folder in the download directory: The File contains 4 Files in total

- Now follow the steps described in the PDF at the chapter "How to upgrade the firmware through usblist2.exe"

Drag the SWUPGRADE_ON.PRN file and drop down it on the usblist2.exe in the firmware folder downloaded. (I seems that nothing happened)

- Drag the firmware file(***.hd) and drop down it on the usblist2.exe.

- After this I remember, that a window popped up where I saw, that the firmware update processed.

- The lights on my printer went dark and Wifi / Power started blinking again. At this time I think, the printer processed the firmware update, which took several minutes

- The lights went dark again and then everything was on factory reset status (Wifi password too) so I started to set up the Wifi Connection

- After Logging in into the EWS I was happy to see, that "admin" and blank password worked to login at the EWS page.

Hope that helped you guys.
