HP ENVY 6032e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all, I am new to this so sorry if I sound stupid but I've purchased this printer and I am out of my depth. All I want to do is to connect a printer to my PC via a cable and print, scan or copy from my PC. I have tried to connect using the wireless method and after several hours of updates and failed attempts I have given up.

I have noticed the wired connection port at the back of the printer is taped up, can I remove the tape and just connect it as a normal everyday printer please. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi @belperjem,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, absolutely! You can remove the tape from the wired connection port at the back of your HP ENVY 6032e printer and connect it directly to your PC using a USB cable. This is a straightforward and reliable method for printing, scanning, and copying from your PC.

Here's what you need to do.

  • Remove the tape: Carefully peel off any tape covering the USB port on the back of your printer. This tape is often placed there to protect the port during shipping.
  • Get a USB cable: You'll need a standard USB printer cable. One end of the cable should have a standard USB Type-A connector, while the other end should have a connector that matches the port on your printer (likely a USB Type-B connector).
  • Connect the printer to your PC: Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the back of your printer, and then connect the other end to an available USB port on your PC.
  • Install the printer drivers (if necessary): Depending on your operating system, your PC might automatically detect the printer and install the necessary drivers. If not, you may need to download and install the drivers from the HP website. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the driver installation.
  • Test the connection: Once the drivers are installed, try printing a test page from your PC to confirm that the connection is working correctly. You should also be able to scan and copy from your PC using the printer's software.

By following these steps, you should be able to use your HP ENVY 6032e printer with your PC via a wired USB connection without any issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
