Product: HP DeskJet 2810e All-in-One Printer

Was this a scam? Purchased HP Deskjet printer on Amazon. Followed installation instructions from booklet provided. Printer showed ink and paper lights and not working. Tried to find HP video on web-site as I might have done something wrong but was offered chat support. Then advised I needed technical support. That person took control of my computer said problem is computer not printer. Long time later offered to fix it with payments ranging from £399 per year for 3 years or £899 for lifetime support. Told him I could not afford these sums. Asked if I was a pensioner. I said I was and 84years old he then said he would contact Microsoft for best offer. When he came back to me the offer was £149.99 for lifetime support. I felt that I had to accept this to get my computer back. He then spent quite some time working on the computer when he finished the fault was still on the printer. Turned out I had not pushed the cartridges in far enough! Nothing in installation booklet to tell you to push them in until you hear a click. So Have I been scammed out of this money for no reason?

Thank you for that link about scam callers but I was online to HP and it was their support chat person that had the technical support person call me. I tried to complain to HP but they do not seem to have a complaints procedure. Probably because theey get so many complaints!

The HP chat is on web page is AI, not a real person.  Can you double check browsing history, there are fake HP support sites.

Supposed HP support

I was searching for the HP video giving installation instructions for my printer. That led me to Youtube when thi guy contacted me. I just assumed he was from HP. I would like to know how he managed to get my contact phone number? Seems I have been the victim of a scammer.
