HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 All-in-One Printer

Background:  My HP Office Jet Pro 8720 keep showing the message: missing printer head or dirty printer head.  I attempted to clean the printer heads and replace all of the ink cartridges with HP brand new ones.  No improvement. Next I replaced the printer head hardware with new HP printer head hardware, then returned the new cartridges.  This produced the CURRENT issue:  Supply System Problem.  When I check the full cartridges what they are showing.  They are not registering as being present.  I replaced the new cartridges with the previous used cartridges, but same message and not registering as been present...thus system supply problem issue.  Please advise and help.  Thank you.

Hi @JimFrank,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've been trying various troubleshooting steps to address the issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer. If you've already replaced the printhead and still encounter the "Supply System Problem" error message, here are some additional steps you can take to try and resolve the issue.

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that all the cartridges are correctly installed. Open the printer cover and double-check if the cartridges are securely seated in their respective slots.
  • Clean Electrical Contacts: Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source. Remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Make sure they are completely dry before reinserting the cartridges.
  • Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve various issues. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website.
  • Hard Reset: Perform a hard reset on the printer. To do this, unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn on the printer. This can help reset the printer's internal settings.
  • Factory Reset: If the problem persists, you may consider performing a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will reset all printer settings to their default values, so make sure you have any necessary configurations backed up. The exact steps for a factory reset can vary, so refer to your printer's user manual or the HP support website for instructions specific to your model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
