When clicking to print, it takes a very long time to start printing.
This happens sparatically though. Sometime prints right away, sometimes takes very long time to print.
when I turn off printer and turn back on, it will print right away on first try, then started taking long time on another print.
I have also tried rebooting computer, downloading updates from HP website and drivers as well. nothing is correcting issue

Hi @HVCltd,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the issue with your HP LaserJet Enterprise MFP M430 taking a long time to start printing might be related to several factors, such as network issues, print spooler problems, or printer settings. Here are some steps to help troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Printer Settings and Configuration:
- Ensure the printer is configured correctly for your network.
- Check the printer’s IP address settings to make sure it is static and not dynamic. A static IP address can help reduce delays caused by changes in network configuration.
Update Firmware:
- Even though you mentioned updating drivers, ensure the printer's firmware is up-to-date. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve performance.
Check Network Connection:
- Ensure that the printer has a stable network connection. Unstable connections can cause delays.
- If the printer is connected via Wi-Fi, try connecting it directly to the network via Ethernet cable to see if the issue persists.
Clear Print Spooler:
- Sometimes, the print spooler on your computer can become clogged with print jobs, causing delays.
- Open the Services application on your computer.
- Find "Print Spooler" in the list.
- Right-click on it and select "Stop."
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in this folder.
- Go back to the Services application, right-click on "Print Spooler," and select "Start."
Check for Printer Errors:
- Check the printer’s control panel for any error messages or warnings.
- Ensure there are no pending print jobs that could be causing a backlog.
Print Directly to the Printer:
- Change the printer properties to print directly to the printer instead of spooling:
- Go to "Devices and Printers."
- Right-click on your printer and select "Printer Properties."
- Go to the "Advanced" tab.
- Select "Print directly to the printer."
- Apply the changes.

Check Driver Settings:
- Sometimes, specific driver settings can cause delays. Ensure you are using the correct driver for your printer model.
- Consider uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which can diagnose and fix many common printing and scanning issues.
Check Print Queue on Other Computers:
- Ensure no other computers on the network are causing delays by holding up the print queue.
By systematically going through these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing the delays in printing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
