I have an HP Tango and don't have setup cartridges (it was a used purchase). I bought brand new HP ink to use, but am getting an "use setup cartridge" error and can't use my printer. Will someone please help me bypass the error so that I can finish setting up the printer? Thanks in advance!

Follow below steps on the Tango printer:
1. Open the ink cartridge access door.
2. Press and hold the Wireless button for 3 seconds.
3. Close the access door. Press and hold "i" info printout to confirm successful override.
4. If Initialization does not begin, repeat steps ( 1) to (3) until initialization begins.
Nothing HP offered helped. HP did send me new cartridges, but they were not “setup” cartridges .
after months of trying to figure this out, the above steps fixed the error.

Hi @Terrys916,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your frustration. you can try a few steps to see if you can get the printer to recognize the new cartridges.
- Restart the Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve minor issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
- Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Remove the ink cartridges from the printer and gently clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the cartridge slots in the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Make sure they are dry before reinserting them into the printer.
- Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Tango printer. Sometimes, updates include fixes for cartridge recognition issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
