HP DeskJet 2820e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, every time we print, a test page gets printed too, sometimes multiple times.   How can we stop this?  I can't seem to find a function in the settings to "untick this"

Hi @MelissaG80,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue where your HP DeskJet 2820e All-in-One Printer prints a test or alignment page every time you print. This behaviour typically occurs when the printer's alignment process hasn't been completed successfully. To resolve this, you'll need to complete the alignment process by scanning the alignment page.

1. Complete the Ink Cartridge Alignment

After the printer prints the alignment page:

  1. Lift the scanner lid.
  2. Place the alignment page face down on the scanner glass (usually aligned to the front-right corner).
  3. Close the lid.
  4. On the printer control panel or HP Smart app, press the scan button or follow the on-screen instructions to scan the page.

Once scanned, the printer stores the alignment info and stops printing the page.

2. Check the HP Smart App for Setup Completion

  • Open the HP Smart app on your PC or phone.
  • Look for any remaining setup steps like:
    • Finishing printer registration
    • Completing the ink setup
    • Alignment confirmation

Make sure all steps are marked as done.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
