I have Windows XP and IE8.
The page http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00802504 explains what to do in case the HP director does not appear, but the section "solution two" subsection "method one" is not specific enough.
The problem is that I got no onscreen instructions what do to after going through steps 1 - 12: should I connect back the printer to the computer, or first restart the computer and then connect them back?
Or maybe I should first turn off the printer, then restart the computer and connect the printer to it (or the other way around) , and then turn on the printer?
I am asking this because I know how important it is to go through all the steps by the letter.

Hi! @Thomas82, Thank you for joining the HP Forums!
I understand you have issues opening HP director software on your PC.
You should first turn off your printer then restart your computer and connect the printer.
However, as a workaround, you can install HP solution center and check if that helps.
Download solution center using this link.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂
