The new HP OfficeJet 9730 has two major issues.

  1. Print properties dialogue screen takes ages to open (see attached video)

;and

  1. The scan quality is atrocious. If you zoom in you will notice that the words appear 'blurred' and the background has a greyish tint to it (one was done using the NAPS2 and the other using HP Scan - both done at 150dpi )

How did you install the printer ? HP Smart ? If yes go to hp.com and install yourself a full driver software not HP smart. That might fix all your issues.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Unfortunately there are a number of issues with HP printers, apart from this one and the fact that it is so difficult to locate the full driver software. It is either HP Smart, which is what a support lady I spoke to last week insisted on installing, or HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software.  I had a support person from HP on the phone and accessing my screen, and spent more than an hour trying, what I had already tried several times before. And when he went searching for the full driver software, he could not find it.

 

It is currently installed using the HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software, and whilst I had gone to great lengths to delete any trace of HP Smart from my laptop, lo and behold, when we checked the drivers, it was the HP Smart driver being used even though there is no trace of the HP Smart application on my laptop.

 

HP please get it right.😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

 

Is this the full driver software.....Full_Webpack-60.0.1901-OJP9730_Full_Webpack....if so, then I did install it last week with the same outcome of poor scan quality and issues with the print properties dialogue page taking ages to open.

I have tried to everything but it is still not working out. I even got HP support to try and assist since last week. Even the HP support assistant today could not find the full driver software and ended up installing using the "HPEasyStart_16_7_5" because I refused to use the HP Smart Print. But to our surprise, on checking which driver had been installed it was the HP Smart print driver even though the HP Smart Print application hasn't been installed. And this is after I had gone to great lengths to try and clean out HP Smart Print from my laptop, which had been installed by the previous HP support assistant last week.

By the way, is this the full driver software....."Full_Webpack-60.0.1901-OJP9730_Full_Webpack" ?
