The ink access lid won’t open on the 8135e

How do you open the ink access lid on the 8135e printer? It doesn’t open and there are no obstructions.

Make sure the document feeder is closed and lit the document feeder and scanner at the same time.

If the document feeder is opened or lifted first the scanner is locked on the left side.
