HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw
Microsoft Windows 11

The install of HP_Color_LJ_Pro_MFP_M277-full-solution-22047 times out on Windows 11. It gets to 99% complete and stops.

What do I need to do to complete installation and configuration.

Hi @W-John

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing that—hitting 99% and freezing is such a tease, and I’m really sorry it’s giving you trouble.

Let’s walk through a few steps that should help get things moving again:

🛠️ Step-by-Step Fix for Installation Timeout

Uninstall Previous Attempts

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
  • Find any existing printer software related to the M277dw and uninstall it completely
  • Restart your PC before trying again

Use HP Easy Start Instead

  • Download the HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software for the M282-M285 series from the official support page (HP Support Community)
  • This tool often works better with Windows 11 and can detect your printer even if the full solution stalls

Manual Driver Selection

  • During installation, if your printer isn’t auto-detected, choose it manually from the list
  • If the M277dw isn’t listed, try selecting the M282-M285 series driver—it’s been known to work well

Install via Windows Settings (Alternative Method)

  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
  • Click Add device and let Windows detect the printer
  • Once added, go to Printer properties > Device Settings tab
  • Set Duplex Unit to “Installed” if needed for double-sided printing

Embedded Web Server (EWS) Access

  • If your printer is on the network, open its IP address in a browser to access the EWS
  • From there, you can manage settings, check status, and even update firmware

Let me know how far you get with these steps—happy to guide you through any part that feels tricky. We’ll get this sorted! 😊
