Hi @Jules2456

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing what’s happening with your HP Envy 6120e. I can imagine how frustrating it must feel to be stuck in setup, unable to align cartridges, and now facing a power issue.

You’ve already shown great patience—let’s work through this together and bring the printer back to life.

Here are the steps to help recover from this setup lock and power issue:

1. Power Reset the Printer

This helps clear any stalled startup or alignment loop.

  • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Reconnect the cord to the printer and press the power button.

If the printer powers on, wait for it to complete initialization. If it still doesn’t respond, continue to the next step.

2. Check Cartridge Installation

Improper seating can block alignment and setup.

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove both cartridges.
  • Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Let them dry completely.
  • Reinstall the cartridges firmly until they click into place.

3. Bypass Alignment Prompt

If the printer powers on but gets stuck at alignment:

  • Cancel the alignment from the printer screen if the option appears.
  • Alternatively, open the HP App on your Windows PC.
  • Select your printer > Settings > Printer Maintenance > Align Cartridges.
  • Run alignment from the app instead of the printer screen.

4. Complete Setup via HP App

If the printer is stuck in setup mode:

  • Open the HP App on your computer.
  • Select “Set up a new printer.”
  • Follow the guided steps to complete setup.
  • If prompted for alignment, choose “Skip” or “Do it later” if available.

5. Update Firmware

If the printer powers on and connects:

  • In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Firmware Update.
  • Install any available updates to clear setup and alignment loops.

If the printer still won’t power on after the reset, try a different wall outlet and confirm the power cord is securely connected. Let me know if the screen lights up or if there’s any sound or movement during startup—we can go deeper based on that.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
