I have been struggling to get my printer up and running correctly for any period of time.  I'm not sure if this happened after an HP update or not.   Jobs keep getting stuck in the print spooler and I have to stop, clear, and restart the print spooler.  So, sometimes it will fix the problem, but just for a short while and it starts happening all over again.  I have tried all sorts of fixes, like unloading the printer and all HP software, etc., but the problem reemerges.  This is so frustrating.

So, I have been using HP Smart to print to bypass the spooler, but even this has glitches.  Why can I get the full HP driver package into my operating system?  It currently shows the driver as Microsoft IPP Class Driver and doesn't even show my printer HP 9120 series (actually HP9125e) under Devices and printers.

Hi @Peggy_Glaub,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP 9125e is showing up as a Microsoft IPP Class Driver, print jobs keep getting stuck in the spooler, and you’re unable to install the full HP driver package properly. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Uninstall Existing Printer Drivers Completely

Go to Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners, remove the HP 9125e if listed.

Open Device Manager → Print queues/Printers, and uninstall any remaining HP entries.

Use Programs & Features to remove any HP software. This ensures no conflicting drivers remain.

Clear the Print Spooler

Open Services (Windows + R → services.msc), locate Print Spooler, stop the service.

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files in this folder.

Restart the Print Spooler service.

Download the Full Feature HP Driver Package

Go to HP Software & Drivers → search for HP 9125e → select your Windows version.

Download the Full Feature Software and Drivers (not just the basic driver).

This package includes the HP Universal Print Driver and software needed to replace the Microsoft IPP driver.

Install the Full Feature Driver as Administrator

Right-click the installer → Run as Administrator.

Follow the prompts to connect the printer via USB or network (recommended: temporarily use USB if network detection fails).

Make sure to select HP 9125e when the installer prompts for the model, not “Microsoft IPP” or “HP Universal.”

Verify in Devices and Printers

After installation, the printer should show up as HP 9125e with the full driver.

Check Printing Preferences and Printer Properties to confirm full functionality.

I hope this helps.

Well, I did get to the point where I could begin to download the "Full Feature HP Driver Package, but when I navigated to the HP download page for my printer and operating system, my choice was shown as "HP OfficeJet Pro 9120 series EasyStart Printer Setup Software - Offline Use Only".  Is this what I am supposed to download and install?  It says that it is recommended that I download the HP Smart App first?  If this is not the correct download, can you please provide a link to the correct download I need?  Thanks.
