Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer

The printer keeps trying to do a download randomly on it's own and then shows "Download Unsuccessful"   and "The printer update could not be downloaded".    There are 2 soft buttons,  "Retry" and "Ok".   If I hit "Retry" it tries to download and fails.  If I hit "Ok" it eventually gives me the start screen after a long printer check sequence, but 5 mins later it goes back into update mode and tries to download and fails.

 

When I try to turn off auto updates it tells me that feature is locked.

Please help me resolve this issue.

HP Recommended

This is a problem that HP has to fix on their side.  For now you will have to disable firmware update attempts so it will stop locking up your printer.

 

Run the HP Smart application and choose "Printer Settings" which will take you to the embedded web GUI for the printer and then choose "SETTINGS" from the menu at the top.

On the left side click the + next to "Security" and choose "Administrator Settings"

Scroll all the way down to the bottom and uncheck both printer update boxes.
