Photosmart 6525
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!  I'm in the process of copying some User Manuals with writing in them that are so small that I need a magnifying glass.

And to help me do that I have been trying to use my Photosmart 6525 HP Printer to magnify the writing in the Manual.

But what I also need at the moment is the "Crop" function that seems to be missing, since I installed Win 10.

Does anybody know what I need to do to get this function back again?

Copy

The printer is not aware of what it is printing.

User Guide

If the Resize setting is available, you can resize the copy.

What else?

Download the manual to your computer as a PDF file.

Open the PDF document in Adobe Reader DC

Click the Print icon

In the Page Sizing and Handling menu, select how you want to print the content.

Typical choices are "Actual", "Fit", and Custom (select the percentage of 100 percent)

Example

Manage Print Output with Print Preview_PDF_1GManage Print Output with Print Preview_PDF_1G

Crop

Crop is a function of the software / program you are using to view and submit the job to the printer.

Best to have installed the full driver for the printer.

The driver, at this writing, is six years old - it might still work with the latest versions of Windows 10.

Before you install the printer software,

Run Windows Updates to be sure these are current / installed.

Check for Updates

If any updates are installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Next...

If you have not done so,

Download and save the Full Feature Software (full driver) for the printer.

HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers

Next

  • If using USB, disconnect the USB cable between the printer and the computer before starting the installation.  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (toward the end of the installation procedure).

Next

  • Navigate to the folder in which you saved the software installation package (likely Downloads)
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • Reminder:  If using USB > Connect the USB cable when instructed (toward the end of the installation)
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in

Discussion

When you "Scan" you can control what is captured in the content.

HP Scan

HP Scan (part of the full driver software) includes some content control when scanning.

HP Scan Extended

Very similar to HP Scan, HP Scan Extended provides some of the same controls and likely a couple of "extra" features that can be helpful to the scan boundaries.

HP Scan Extended does require that you have (already) installed the Full Feature Software (full driver) for your printer.
