HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer

I am trying to do two-sided printing on size A5 paper. It gives e a paper mismatch error. If I go to Paper Tray Management it is locked.  If I try to do a printer reset, restore is locked. How do I get in the settings to unlock the administrative settings.

Hi @momstewy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To access the administrative settings on your HP printer, you will need to follow these steps.

  • Press the "Menu" button on your HP printer's control panel.
  • Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Administration" or "Settings" menu.
  • Press the "OK" or "Select" button to enter the menu.
  • You may be prompted to enter a password. If you have not set a password before, try using the default password for your HP printer model. You can find this information in the user manual or by searching for it online.
  • Once you have entered the administrative menu, you can make changes to various settings, such as network settings, security settings, and printer preferences.

Note that not all HP printers have the same administrative settings or password requirements. If you are unsure how to access the administrative settings on your specific printer model,

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I was able to reset and get to the administration functions and unlock everything.

Now I still get the error message "The destination paper, A5, is not available when Two-Sided is set to Long-Edge Binding"

To set Two-Sided to Off, click Continue to change the destination paper to its previous setting, click Cancel"

The printer itself gives me a paper mismatch error.

Does this mean I just can't print Two-Sided with this size paper?

Please tell me there is a way to fix this. I don't want to waste all that paper printing on one side.I

The printer likely does not support auto duplex for this size, usually this is a limitation of the feed path. You could try rotating the page so you  feed short edge first.
