Unable to update driver.  Running Big Sur 11.3.1.  Printer is LaserJet P1505.  Keep getting error message, "This Volume does not meet the requirements for this update."  Recommended driver is Mac Printer Driver HPPrinterDrivers5.1.

All suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

@powersatch, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are trying to install the printer on the Mac.

To assist you better, kindly send a picture of the error in your next post.

Are you using a USB cable to connect the printer and the Mac?

Click here to download the printer driver from the HP Support site via Easy Start.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Here is a screenshot. I can't install the driver. And yes, I am using a USB cable to connect the printer to the Mac.

did the picture work?

Yes, I can see the picture attached, however it is not clear.

Make sure the cable is directly connected between the Mac and the printer.

The use of a USB hub is not recommended. Also, make sure the cable is connected to a USB 2.0 port on your Mac.

Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the Mac? If yes, disable the same for time being.

To check, select the Go menu on the top of the screen and go to the Applications folder.

  • Check if the printer is getting recognized by your Mac:
  1. From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.
  2. Click System Report.
  3. Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB.

USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus. The printer should be under the USB 2.0 Bus

'Set up a USB printer connection with a built-in driver' as shown in this document.

Let me know how it goes.

This does not help. Let me reiterate, the printer is LaserJet P1505, which is a very old printer. I am trying to hook it up to my brand new iMac which has macOS Big Sur Version 11.4. To do so I will need to install a driver. The problem is that I cannot install the driver. When I try I get this message, "This Volume does not meet the requirements for this update." How do I install the driver?

@powersatch

Let us try these steps:

Use the HP uninstaller as shown in this document. Follow steps 1-7.

Now, disable any security software if you have on the Mac

To check, select the Go menu on the top of the screen and go to the Applications folder

Once disabled, click here to install the printer driver.

This isn't helping. How do I schedule a one-on-one interaction or a remote session with the HP Support team? I followed the link you sent me for the HP Technical Support team and see no such options.

You may not get the option to contact the Support team if the product is out of warranty.

I have sent you a private message with the contact information. Kindly check the same, this might help you to resolve this issue. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
