Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

We moved wi-fi locations for our HP LaserJet Pro M118dw and I cannot sign into the printer setup because there is a password which we do not recall having set or changed.

The only support option is to request password reset instructions via this forum. I bought the printer new 14 months ago from BestBuy but is no longer supported by HP. Could HP please help.

Thanks,

Hi @JAQueLA,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you’re unable to recall the Wi-Fi password for your HP LaserJet Pro M118dw after moving to a new network, here’s how you might resolve the issue.

Reset the Printer Network Settings:

  • Locate the Reset Option: On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the network settings menu.
  • Factory Reset Network Settings: Look for an option to reset network settings or restore factory defaults. This will remove any stored network configurations, including the old Wi-Fi network settings.

Reconfigure the Printer Network Settings:

  • Connect the Printer to the New Network: After resetting, the printer will need to be reconnected to the new Wi-Fi network.
  • Use HP Smart App or Printer's Control Panel: You can use the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device to set up the printer on the new network. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi.

Access Printer via USB Temporarily:

  • Connect via USB: If you’re unable to configure Wi-Fi settings directly, connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable temporarily. This will allow you to configure the network settings from your computer using the HP Smart app or Printer Software.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
