Hi @Bobb1959,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 5100 is still searching for your old network credentials, which prevents it from seeing the new WiFi signal until the wireless radio is manually forced back into "Setup Mode."

Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and the control panel is active.
  • Press and hold the Information button (the "i" icon) for five seconds until the control panel buttons light up.
  • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button (the red X) simultaneously for five seconds.
  • Check that the status light or the wireless icon is now pulsing purple or blue, indicating it is ready for a new connection.

Refresh the HP Smart app.

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device and sign in.
  • Right-click (or long-press) the existing printer icon and select Hide Printer or Remove Printer to clear the old settings.
  • Click the Add Printer button or the plus sign (+) to start a fresh search for hardware.
  • Select the "HP Smart Tank 5100" from the list of found devices to begin the pairing process.

Complete the network handshake.

  • Follow the on-screen prompts to select your new 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network name.
  • Type in your new Wi-Fi password carefully, ensuring there are no extra spaces.
  • Watch for the wireless light on the printer to turn solid blue, confirming a successful link.
  • Print a "Printer Status Report" by pressing the Information button to verify the new IP address.

For a visual walkthrough of this process, visit the "HP Smart Tank 5100 - Wireless Printer Setup" guide.

Is the wireless light on your printer currently blinking rapidly, or is it completely turned off?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

Kuroi_Kenshi
