New Printer , Trying to print colour using apps Pages and Numbers. Using Print function I dont get Black / Colour option and the Preview screen shows the colours in the document as greyed out. The colour option works OK with my old Epson printer.

Hi @PhilChad,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
When printing from Pages and Numbers from your HP Smart Tank 7305 All-in-One printer on macOS 12 (Monterey), if the Black & White / Color print options are missing and color output shows as greyed out, it usually indicates:
- The system is using AirPrint instead of the full HP printer driver.
- The printer is defaulting to grayscale in system print settings.
- macOS may not be recognizing full driver capabilities without proper software.
Recommended Steps
Step 1: Remove and Re-add the Printer with the HP Driver
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP Smart Tank 7305 and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
- Click the plus (+) to add it again.
- IMPORTANT: In the "Use" dropdown, do not leave it as AirPrint.
Instead, select “HP Smart Tank 7300 Series” if available.
⚠️ If you only see “AirPrint” in the dropdown and not HP’s driver, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Install HP Easy Start
- Download HP Easy Start from this link:
👉 HP Smart Tank 7305 All-in-One Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support - Follow the guided steps to install the full-feature HP software and driver package for your printer.
- Restart your Mac once installation completes.
- Try printing again from Pages or Numbers and check if color options now appear.
Step 3: Check Print Settings in Pages/Numbers
- When choosing File > Print, click “Show Details” if needed.
- Expand the “Color Options” or “Quality” section.
- Ensure it’s set to Full Color, not Grayscale.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
