Hi all,

I cancelled my instant ink subscription, it ended yesterday. I installed regular cartridges but today, I cannot print due to a cartridge or account issue.  I have absolutely no response from HP Support via Whatsapp or call (got dropped just before being transferred to an agent).  Am extremely frustrated and just want to know what to do to get my printer to print using a regular cartridge.  Thanks,

@Suzanne105, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Printing After Cancelling Instant Ink Subscription!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you've recently canceled your Instant Ink subscription and are experiencing issues printing with regular cartridges, this could be due to the printer still being associated with the subscription settings. Here’s what you can do to resolve this issue:

Check Printer Connection and Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your network or computer.
  • Restart the printer to reset the connection settings.

Switch from Instant Ink Cartridges to Regular Cartridges:

  • Ensure you have installed genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your printer model. Sometimes, third-party cartridges might not work as expected.
  • Remove any Instant Ink subscription cartridges and clear all notifications or prompts requesting Instant Ink services.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer firmware is up to date. Check for firmware updates on HP’s support site or through the HP Smart app.

Remove Printer from Instant Ink Account:

  • Although you’ve canceled your subscription, make sure your printer is fully removed from your Instant Ink account settings to avoid any remote restriction.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset on your printer to clear any residual subscription settings. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on performing a reset.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
