Envelopes are similar to "plain paper" in that the paper weights supported for envelopes are the same as for the paper type "Plain paper".  It's possible (though not supported) that your printer will print a slightly heavier envelope, perhaps using paper type "Thick" or "Professional / Brochure".

Envelopes can be of a supported standard size or a Custom size within the range of "custom sizes" supported by the printer.

Contributing factors include:

• Plain paper
• No scallops, exposed metal clips
• No foil lined
• White or cream color is best 
• Windows -- Word > Mailing > Envelopes printing requires the full driver printer software to have been installed to gain access to the full range of Printing Preferences
• Windows - Custom Paper Size Form -- If /  As needed
• Windows -- Printer Properties > Tab Advanced > Driver should be selected as the installed HP driver and NOT the Microsoft / IPP driver
• Create Envelope - Setup

Load the paper / envelopes according to the instructions in the user guide:

 Section Load envelopes - Starting on Page 14

 Do not skip Step 6

 Next,  Section Change the default paper settings -  Page 25

EWS - Tray and Paper

EWS > HP Document / How-to (InkJet Printers – Basic Information)

 Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

NOTE:  Find printer IP address

Section Open the EWS over a local network orientation

OR

 HP Laser Printers - Using the Printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Alternate EWS format - Select newer InkJet printers and select LaserJet printers

The default PIN might be located on the back or inside the printer (ink access area).

See your printer's user guide for additional information.

Open your Browser

Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Paper > Trays > click on Tray to configure

Next (as available)

Section Print > Default Print Options > Select default options / tray
