Operating System: macOS 12.0 Monterey

Trying to install my brand new OfficeJet Pro 9015e.  Both the red and black ink cartridges pop out.  None of the four cartridges snaps in with an audible click.  I've tried pushing reasonably hard.  What now?

P.S.  I did check that the cartridges are inserted with the color dots on the outward facing side towards the bottom, near the corresponding dots on the cartridge holder, as shown in pictures I've seen on the web.
