Computer is HP Pavilion HPE desktop PC with Windows 7 64-bit OS
Printer is HP Color LaserJet Professional CP5225dn, driver is HP Universal 64-bit PCL 6
How can I set up a print job for duplexing? That setting is not available, no matter what app I'm using (MS Word, Excel, Quicken, e-mail client, etc.).
How can I set up a print job for black and white instead of color? That setting is also not available no matter what app is used. Thank you.

If you are using a properly configured UPD driver and have permissions on the computer to change print settings then I suggest you check the following.
1. On your computer, go to control panel>devices and printers and right click on the icon for your printer and select "printer properties" from the drop down menu. The nclick on the device settings tab and scroll down and ensure the the setting "duplex unit shows as installed. If not, change it to installed. You should then be able to access duplex settings in your applications.
2. To change a job to print monochrome instead of color, when you initiate the print job, You should have an option to click monochrome on the main screen
If that option is greyed out as you state are you able to click on properties which will open all print settings including a color tab that you can then set greyscale from there. I noticed that if the device type in device settings, where you checked for the duplex option, is set to auto, the color tab may not appear. It did not for me.
If all the options are still greyed out, then for some reason, you do not have proper rights to make changes to print jobs. It could be a corrupted installation and you might need to delete and reinstall the driver. The 5225 printer has always been a bit of a pain and does not always play nice, in my opinion the Laserjet Pro operating system on this printer is lackluster.

To Repairatrooper, thank you so much for the tips on finding the duplex setting. One would think it would know to set that when it detects that type of printer.
On the color issue, I could not find the setting you refer to, but I don't print that many color pages from my PC anyway, it won't matter. I print many color pages from a Mac laptop also connected to this printer. The Mac driver is way better than the one for a PC. Thank you again!
