HP OfficeJet 9012e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

**bleep**???? everything working great. Installed HP Smart on a new computer... Two sided print option is G-O-N-E. It will not even give me the option. It's not grey, it's GONE.

None of the printer setting through windows, or the HP Smart App  give me the option of two sided printing. It is GONE. Let me repeat, it WORKD FINE UNTIL I INSTALLED HP SMART.

Seriously? why is this kind of crap ALWAYS happening with HP printers? I am so ready to move to somebody else.

Either this gets solved ASAP, or I move on.

@KTGWW, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP OfficeJet 9012e All-in-One Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Since the two-sided printing option has disappeared entirely (not even grayed out), here are a few steps to try:

Check Printer Preferences in Windows

Open Control PanelDevices and Printers

Right-click on your HP OfficeJet 9012e → Printer Preferences

Look for the Printing Shortcut tab or Finishing tab (depending on the driver)

If Two-Sided (Duplex) Printing is missing, move to the next step

Ensure the Correct Printer Driver is Installed

Open Device Manager → Expand Printers

Right-click on your HP printer and select Update driver

Choose Search automatically for drivers

If no update is found, visit the HP Support Website and manually download the Full Feature Software and Drivers for your printer model

Check HP Smart & Windows Print Settings

Open HP SmartPrinter Settings

Look for the Print Quality & Settings tab (sometimes Duplex settings are hidden here)

Also, in Windows, go to Settings → Printers & Scanners → HP OfficeJet 9012e → Manage → Printing Preferences

Uninstall & Reinstall HP Smart (Just in case the update didn’t install correctly)

Uninstall HP Smart from Windows Settings → Apps

Restart your PC

Reinstall HP Smart from the Microsoft Store

Hard Reset the Printer

Turn off the printer, unplug it from power for 60 seconds

Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the option is back

If you try these steps and the issue persists, let me know. I want to make sure you’re up and running without unnecessary hassle. I appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help!

Looking forward to your update.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
