My new  computer has only usb 3.0 ports.   Hate to lose my faithful laserjet.  How about i run from 3.0 computer port to usb 2.0 junction box, and from there to the printer?

@JimmytheBike,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know whether using a USB 3.0 to a USB 2.0 USB extension to make the printer work.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you try and check whether the USB extension works, I would say it may not work however there is no harm in trying.

Hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

I am happy to report that my strategy worked.   Our laserjet HP P2055dn would not work with my new Microsoft laptop, with only usb 3.0 ports.   I fooled the priner by  running the usb cable from the computer's 3.0 port  to a usb 2.0 hub, and then another usb cable from the 2.0 hub to the printer.   Seems to be working just fine -- the trusty laserjet prints again!
