Hi @Simba20

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The HP DeskJet 2800e series does support USB printing. Let’s go through the installation process step by step so you can get printing reliably with a USB cable:

Get the right cable

  • The printer uses a standard USB Type‑B to USB Type‑A cable (square end for the printer, flat end for the computer).
  • Connect the cable firmly into the USB port on the back of the printer and the other end into your computer.

Power on the printer

  • Make sure the printer is turned on before connecting the USB cable.
  • Windows should automatically detect the printer once connected.

Install drivers/software

  • Go to the HP support page for your model: HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter “HP DeskJet 2800e” and download the full feature software package.
  • Run the installer and follow the on‑screen prompts. During setup, choose “USB connection” when asked.

Verify installation

  • After installation, open the HP App on your Windows computer.
  • Select your printer—it should now show as connected via USB.
  • Print a test page to confirm everything is working.

Switching between Wi‑Fi and USB

  • If Wi‑Fi is unstable, you can continue using USB without issue.
  • The printer can be set up with both connections, but only one is active at a time depending on how you send the job.

For detailed steps refer to the link below:

With these steps, you’ll have a stable wired connection and can bypass Wi‑Fi entirely when needed.
