I have instructions to connect printer via USB cable.

I need to know what button to press to commence USB printing. It appears that only Wi-Fi buttons exist on printer. Perhaps there is something in printer settings but  I do not know.

I would really appreciate clear instructions to my query.

@this-Q_, Welcome to HP Support Community!

You'd not require to press any button on the printer to commence USB printing.

Download the HP Smart app, and then follow the instructions to set up a USB connection in macOS.

  1. If you already connected the printer USB cable to your computer, disconnect it, and then remove the printer from your computer.

Click the Apple icon, click System Preferences, and then click Printers & Scanners, Print and Scan, or Print and Fax. Select the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then restart the computer.

  2. Make sure an open USB port is available on your computer. Do not connect the printer to a USB hub or docking station as the printer might not receive enough power to operate properly.

  3. Go to HP Smart - Mac App Store and install the HP Smart app.

  4. Open the app, and then follow the guided installation to complete the setup. If the setup does not begin automatically, click the Plus sign to add your printer.

Once you have added the printer, To print, select a print job type from the home screen, select the item to print, use the photo editing tools if necessary, and then change any print job settings.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
