HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Our printer stopped printing after working correctly.

I did a factory reset and re-added the printer through the HP Smart App several times. I've made sure the app is up to date. I've tried from 2 different computers and a phone. Each time I get stuck after the printer is added to the network and it wants to register the printer to my account. I get the "unable to register the printer to you account" error with code UA_400_EB000U0410

Hi @Afulwell,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a registration issue with your HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer. Here's a list of troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the "unable to register the printer to your account" error.

Check Internet Connection

  • Ensure that both the printer and the device you're using to register are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  • Test the printer's connection by printing a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to verify the connection.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. You can check this by accessing the printer’s menu (via its control panel) or through the HP Smart app.

Clear HP Smart App Cache

  • Sometimes clearing the cache of the HP Smart app can help. On your phone or computer:
    • Phone: Go to the settings for the HP Smart app and clear cache/data.
    • PC: You can clear app data by uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Smart app.

Sign Out and Sign In Again

  • Try logging out of your HP account in the HP Smart app and signing back in with your HP account credentials.

Check HP Account and Email

  • Confirm that your HP account is active and that the email associated with the account is valid.
  • If needed, try using a different email address for registration.

Disable VPN or Firewall

  • If you are using a VPN or have any strict firewall settings, these can sometimes block registration. Disable them temporarily while attempting registration.

Use HP Printer Registration Website

Perform a Network Reset on the Printer

  • If the previous steps don’t resolve the issue, you may need to perform a network reset on the printer. This will clear any saved network settings and allow you to start fresh:
    • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the network settings and select Restore Network Defaults or Reset Network Settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
