Surface pro X
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried this resolution: from HP

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Setup-Software-Drivers/DIFxAPI-dll-missing-HP-4520-Envy/m-p/63...

Still getting the following error message

call to driverpackageinstalll return error - 536870347 for package c:\program files (x86)\hp\hp laserjet mfp m28-m31\driverstore\YetiV4\hypclms26_V4inf: The 32 bit version DIFzAPI does not work on WIN64 sys. A 64-bit version of DIFxAPI is required.

I verified that the OS Windows 10 Home is 64 bit.  Right-click on This PC then left click on properties.

The printer software fails at step 1. giving that error message when clicking on details.

I tried installing the 32 bit just to see what happens the same issue.

I tried sfc /scannow as well as

the following command as an administrator in DOS

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealt

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Also tried a factory reset on the Surface Pro X

Still having the same issue. and getting the same error message

Hi,

the HP Full Feature Software is compatible with Intel or AMD Processors, not with an ARM Procesor as the Surface Pro X includes.

You may install the printer on your computer using the HP Smart app, this should allow you to install and use the printer on your PC:

I downloaded the HP Smart App; while I am able to print; I am still not able to scan. The HP Smart App will not allow me to scan.

Also noticed the following in device manager.

And were you able to connect to the wireless network using the HP Smart app? can you see the blue wireless light solid lits?

Please follow the HP Easy Start application by selecting the HP Basic Device Software or Full Feature Software option, follow the steps on screen, and check for any difference then while scanning from the HP Scan program:

I tried the HPEasyStart, sadly it did not work. Still not able to use the scanner. I am still getting Scanning is currently unavailable.

I have to say that I am disappointed; it seems that there was no cooperation to ensure that printer software would be able to work on an ARM processor.

Not you, you have been very helpful. My disappointment is with HP.

Hi,

The HP Full Feature Software is supported on Intel and AMD processors only, not on ARM processors as the surface pro x  uses.

Try installing the printer using the HP Smart app and you should likely be able to scan via HP Smart:
