Apologies.

Well the good news is I seem to have got past the Installation procedure now. More by luck than judgment I think, possibly by re-adding the priner in devices and printers via control panel. I'm honestly not quite sure.

But it went through the installation and to a web page with a green tick saying sucessfully installed. I can now print again and the laptop is back on the printer (if I select the 'scan to computer' function).

So thats great, some real progress.

However I cant seem to work out how to open printer assistant to go in and turn the auto-crop setting off in order to get it to scan to jpeg without splitting the image though.

I was under the impression printer assistant was in that basic software after the installation stage, but all I get it below;

Setup (2).png

Do I have to download something further for printer assistant in order to get into advanced settings?

Thanks for your patience

Actually I just tested the scan and this new box  popped up as below;  and there's an unsplit jpeg image in it, so it could be sorted.

Fax and scan (2).png

The options in the printer display seem to have changed though.

If I select Scan> Computer ... I have to go into 'Others' now to select the laptop, and it doesnt seem to give me a choice between jpeg and pdf in there as it did before.

But I'm sure I'll work it out.

Thanks

I have been having the same problem with not being able to uninstall the software. I attempted this fix and when I get to "DriverStore" I cannot open the dll file. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello, i am trying to remove and re install the HP Deskjet 3720 Software and drivers . I went to the normal procedure via Apps remove Windows 10 , which returned the same message err 5. Then I tried to change the permissions according to Answer of Mans  ‎01-27-2020 12:00 PM - edited ‎01-27-2020 12:02 PM.

at Step : "Click the right mouse button on HP OfficeJet 3830 series Basic Software, then Uninstall and Yes"
==> I got again Err 5

Then I went to post https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Software-and-Drivers/Unable-to-Uninstall-Printer-Software/m-p/...

And followed procedure Schlomil  ‎01-27-2020 01:38 PM - edited ‎01-27-2020 01:44 PM

I added my Windows user name which has all rights and at  his step 10 "change" I got following error

Error by use of Security informations
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\13...\1394.inf
Error by counting of objects in Container. Access denied
