I am trying to change and verify my mobile number on my HP Smart Dashboard. I receive the 6-digit verification code and can enter it, but the updated number is not registered.

Ok sorted - it only works if 2FA is implemented, Worth adding that to the above list from HP Support of things to check.

Hi @DrBob625,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with verification issues. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem with updating and verifying your mobile number on your HP Smart Dashboard:
Double-Check the Number: Ensure that the new mobile number is entered correctly and includes the country code if required.
Clear Cache and Cookies: Sometimes, browser issues can interfere with updates. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies or use an incognito/private browsing mode.
Try a Different Browser: Switch to a different web browser to see if the problem persists.
Ensure Internet Connection: Make sure you have a stable internet connection during the process.
Verify the Code Promptly: Enter the verification code as soon as you receive it, as codes often have a short expiration time.
Check for Account Conflicts: Ensure that there are no existing issues with your HP account that could be affecting the update. Sometimes, account settings or issues may prevent changes.
Update the App: If you're using the HP Smart app, ensure it's updated to the latest version. An outdated app may have bugs affecting functionality.
Reboot Devices: Restart your computer and mobile devices, then try the process again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi thanks for the reply, but to no avail. Doing all your suggestions, and with clear cache Firefox using Duck Duck Go (also tried with Edge) it fails after verify - when I add the 6 digit code it goes into a loop asking me to add the new phone number again. After a few goes round the loop it says "too many attempts" and locks me out for a day.
