If Windows is asking for a WPS PIN while you're trying to connect your HP DeskJet 4255e printer, don't worry. In most cases, you do not need to enter a WPS PIN manually.

Option 1: Use the WPS Push Button Method:

If your wireless router supports WPS:
 

1. Press the WPS button on your router.
    
2. Within 2 minutes, press and hold the Wireless button on the printer for about 3 seconds.
    
3. Wait for the wireless light to stop blinking and remain steady, indicating that the printer has connected to the network.

Option 2: Use HP APP (Recommended):

1. Download and install the HP app from the Microsoft Store or from  HP App – For HP Printers, Laptops, and Tech Accessories | HP® Official Site
    
2. Open HP APP and select Add Printer.
    
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

If Windows displays a PIN request during setup, you can usually cancel the prompt and continue setup through HP Smart instead.
 

If a PIN Is Specifically Required

Some Windows setup methods may request a temporary printer PIN. If this occurs, please let us know exactly where the PIN prompt appears (Windows setup screen, HP app, router setup page, etc.), and we will provide the appropriate steps.
