Hi @malik60

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP DeskJet printer connects to Wi-Fi but setup fails afterward in the HP App, the issue may stem from network permissions, app cache, or device sync delays. Restarting and resetting key components often resolves this.

Thanks for sharing that detail—it’s genuinely frustrating when everything seems to go right, only to hit a wall at the final step.

Let’s walk through a few steps that can help you complete the setup smoothly:

Steps to Fix HP DeskJet Setup Failure After Wi-Fi Connection

Restart All Devices
Power off your printer, router, and the device running the HP App. Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on. This clears any lingering sync or IP conflicts.

Reconnect to the Same Wi-Fi Network
Ensure your phone or PC is connected to the exact same Wi-Fi network the printer joined. Avoid guest or restricted networks.

Forget and Re-add the Printer in HP App

  • Open the HP App and remove the printer from the device list.
  • Tap “+” to add a new printer and follow the steps again.

Clear HP App Cache (Android only)

  • Go to Settings > Apps > HP App > Storage > Clear Cache.
  • Reopen the app and retry setup.

Use HP’s Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Guide
This official guide helps resolve deeper network issues:

Try Setup from Another Device
If possible, use a different phone or PC to run the HP App and complete setup. Sometimes device-specific sync issues can block progress.

Reset Printer Network Settings

  • On most DeskJet models, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together until the power light blinks.
  • This resets network settings and lets you start fresh.

Let me know your exact DeskJet model if you’d like tailored steps or a direct driver link. I’ll make sure it’s the most efficient path forward.
