I am using an HP OfficeJet G55 printer with a computer running Windows 10 64-bit. When I connect the printer to the computer using a USB cable, it only shows up as an unspecified device under Devices and Printers. I am unable to add this printer through "Add and printer" wizard, because it does not detect it. I tried to add it manually, however, no USB virtual ports show up. When I tried looking up this printer in the Windows drivers database, this model is not listed.
I've also tried using the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool as well as the HP Easy Start tool but the G55 printer is not detected through these tools.
I am able to connect this printer to my Windows 7 64-bit laptop, which I connected to in the past, but I do not remember how I managed to do it.

Hi,
Please try below steps to manually install the drivers from Microsoft Update:
- Power off the printer, if any unspecified device of your printer remains listed right-click it and select Remove Device.
- Download and extract below drivers, use any extracting tool such as Winrar or 7-ZIP:
- Right-click the start menu and select Run, paste the following and press OK:
printui.exe /s /t2 - Click the Add button and press Next.
- Press Next once again.
- Click Have Disk and browse to the extracted folder, select the shown INF file and press OK
- Locate and select the HP Officejet G55 model from the list.
- complete the wizard by pressing Next and Finish, your printer driver was now added to the operating system.
Now try powering on the printer and check for any change.

Thanks. After doing this, it was showing as an unspecified device, but I was able to right click on this device and go to Properties > Change Settings > Driver tab, and select "Update Driver." Now it works. Thanks!
