HP Laserjet Pro MFP M127fn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is my third Failed attempt to install drivers for printer Laserjet Pro MFP M127fn on my new Acer windows 10 OEM laptop. I have used the HP installer with no customiztion of components (the default recommended) with USB cable connection. It goes upto the stage of product setup 99% and then gives error: " An install operation took too long to execute. This is a fatal error preventing product use. Please restart your computer and run the installer again. If the problem persists please check product suppprt web site for your product..""

I also tried to use the devices and printers interface after restarting the computer by selecting add printer option, it seemed to have installed the printer but it could not print the test page. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

From the printer navigate the Setup menu using the right and left arrows and locate the Service menu.

Look for HP Smart Install option within the Service menu (it might appear and might no depanding on your printer version), if it is there select Disable for HP Scmart Install.

From your PC right click the start menu and select Control Panel, then select View devices and Printers.

Be sure to remove any HP printer icon (either the M127 or any other HP driver) by right clicking the icon and selecting Remove Device, next restart the computer.

Go back to Devices and Printers and select any remaining print queue by left clicking it once, then press on Print Server Properties from the top menu bar.

Select any listed HP print driver and select Remove, be sure to select the 2nd option to remove both the printer and its driver package.

From the Control Panel home, type 'Change Device Installation Settings and open the shown option, then select No and confirm by pressing OK.

Now try reinstalling the latest drivers and check for any difference.

Thank you ShlomiL (Provost) for your time to suggest the solution.

It worked , though i did not need to go the last couple of steps...The following was sufficient in my case.

From the printer (the hardware itself) navigate the Setup menu using the right and left arrows and locate the Service menu.

Look for HP Smart Install option within the Service menu (it might appear and might no depanding on your printer version), if it is there select Disable (or OFF) for HP Smart Install.

( I got error after this saying driver pakage could not be removed, I restarted the computer after this too, the printer was still connected with computer via USB. ) After restart checked devices and printers, printer icon was still there made it default and printed test page fine.

Thank you once again,

Regards
