Hi, I have had an Envy 5544 printer for a few years which worked OK. Recently we have been unable to print colour to it from a HP EliteBook 8470p laptop running Windows 10, although it was working before and was still printing colour from other sources. All the settings were set to colour and tried all sorts to get it wo work without success. So I uninstalled it and tried to install it again using the latest full software download from the HP website. It goes through the install and says installed successfully but it shows up in the Printers and Scanners as Driver unavailable. On the HP Smart app it finds the printer connected to the wifi network, tells me it is out of paper in the photo tray, but says not installed. Again have tried loads of things and uninstalled and installed several times but still getting the same issue. I have tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor but still unable to get it to work. Any ideas please? Thanks

Hi there
I just recently got around it by :
1. Go to the driver download page for printer
2. Download the "Basic" Driver
3. Extract it using something like 7-zip (right-click -> 7-zip -> extract to...)
4. open the run window using Win Key + R
5. type "control printers"
6. In the window that opens, click "Add a Printer"
7. Click "The printer that I want isn't listed"
8. Select the "Add a printer using the TCP/IP address or hostname" radio button
9. Enter the IP address of the printer and make sure the checkbox for "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" is NOT selected.
10. In the window that opens after it contacts the printer, select "Have Disk"
11. Navigate to the extracted Basic driver that you extracted in step 3
12. I used the "hpygid20_v4.inf" information file and selected the non-PCL3 version and everything now works as desired.
Hope it helps.
