My wife and I used to be able to print from our Android phone. This has suddenly stopped and I am at a loss to figure out why. I've reinstalled various HP Print Service apps, there seem to be myriad from HP now, but nothing works.  Smart it definitely is not!

The app says everything is connected and working.

But when I try to print it just says not available now. Nothing like a useful error message to tell you what might be wrong!

Hi @wiggers42

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I acknowledge the situation where your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer is showing as connected in the HP App on your Android phones, but printing does not proceed and instead shows “not available now.” Let’s go through accurate steps from HP to restore smooth mobile printing:

Step 1 – Confirm Printer Connection
On the printer’s control panel, ensure Wi‑Fi is connected and stable.

If needed, reconnect using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

Step 2 – Verify in HP App
Open the HP App on your Android phone.

  • Remove the printer from the app.
  • Re‑add the printer by selecting “Add Printer” and follow the prompts.

Step 3 – Run Diagnose & Fix
In the HP App, go to Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix

This tool automatically checks and repairs connectivity issues.

Use Diagnose & Fix in the HP app to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support

Step 4 – Clear Android Print Service Cache
On your phone, go to Settings > Apps > HP Print Service Plugin.

  • Tap Storage > Clear Cache.
  • Restart the phone and try printing again.

Step 5 – Update Firmware and HP App
Make sure the printer firmware and HP App are updated to the latest version. You can download the latest firmware directly from HP’s support page:
HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Printer Drivers and Firmware

Step 6 – Test Print from HP App
Open a document or photo in the HP App and try printing directly. This ensures the printer is recognized correctly.

These steps should help restore printing from your Android devices. If the issue persists after completing them, we can also refresh the wireless connection between the printer and router.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

When I get to Step 3 all I see under settings is "Shortcuts":

I removed all HP apps and plugins and re-installed just the HP Print Services one mentioned in the link you sent. At stage 5 there were no printers not greyed out.

I reconnected the printer to my WiFi system and the app for that (Deco) shows it present.

I have confirmed the details are correct from the front screen.

I tried adding the printer manually by typing in the IP address but with both the HP and the default printing apps it was saying no printer at that address:

Hi  @wiggers42,

Thanks for your response and thank you for sharing those details and screenshots with us.

Kindly follow the below steps and confirm :

Confirm the IP address: Sometimes the printer’s IP address changes when it reconnects to the network. On the printer’s front panel, check the Network Settings or Wireless Details to confirm the current IP address. Make sure this matches the one you typed in manually.

Re-add via Wi-Fi Direct: If the network path is blocked, try enabling Wi-Fi Direct on the printer and connect your Android device directly to it. Then attempt to print through HP Print Service.

I hope this helps.

See the screenshots, all the IP addresses are correct. WiFi Direct doesn't work either.

Thanks for all your efforts and patience.

Let us try to restore the printer to the default network settings, and then use HP Smart to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Step 1:

Restore network default settings on the printer, to do that - Use the touchscreen to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

On the printer control panel, touch the Setup icon or Wireless icon .

Select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.

Note: Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.

Example of selecting Restore Network Settings on a touchscreen control panel

If a confirmation prompt displays, touch Yes.

Wait 60 seconds until the Wireless light blinks blue.

Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

Step 2:

Uninstall and re-install the HP Smart app on your computer/mobile device.

Place the printer and the computer or mobile device near the Wi-Fi router.

Turn on Wi-Fi on your computer or mobile device and connect to your network. If the computer is connected to the network with an Ethernet cable, temporarily disconnect the cable and use the Wi-Fi connection during the setup.

Enable Bluetooth on the computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

After installing HP Smart for iOS and Android, enable the mobile device location service and allow the app to use your location to detect the printer and offer solutions during setup.

Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPadOS).

In HP Smart, click Add Printer or the plus sign to search for the printer, and then follow the instructions to complete the setup.

Let me know if this helps.
