I am unable to print on A5 paper successfully. When I do print, and settings are changed to accommodate A5 paper, once it prints, there is a gap of about 2 inches at the top of the page. How do I fix this, please? Thank you.
Oh, and I am using a MacBook Pro macOS Sequoia Version 15.4.1

Hi Nicci2310
If you are experiencing issues with gaps when printing on A5 paper using your HP Envy 6530e All-in-One Printer and MacBook Pro, follow these steps to ensure that your settings are correct and the printing is successful.
Step 1: Verify Paper Size and Source in Printer Settings
Check the Paper Size Setting:
- On your MacBook Pro, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP Envy 6530e printer from the list.
- Click Options & Supplies, then click Show Printer Webpage to access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Set Paper Size and Type:
- Navigate to the Settings tab in the EWS interface.
- Ensure that the paper size is set to A5 and the paper type matches your actual paper (e.g., plain, photo).
Step 2: Adjust Print Settings in Application
Open the Document:
- Open the document you want to print in the application you are using (e.g., Pages, Word).
Access Print Settings:
- Go to File > Print.
- In the Print dialog box, select your HP Envy 6530e printer.
Adjust Paper Size:
- Click on Show Details to expand the print settings window.
- Select Paper Size and choose A5. Ensure that the paper orientation and margins are set appropriately.
Step 3: Check and Adjust Print Margins
Set Custom Margins:
- In the Print dialog, look for Layout or Margins settings (may vary depending on the application).
- Set custom margins to minimize or eliminate the gap.
Use Print Preview:
- Before printing, use the Print Preview feature to ensure that the content fits correctly on the A5 paper and there is no unwanted gap.
Step 4: Test with Different Applications
- Test Print from Different Applications:
- Try printing your document from different applications (such as Preview, Pages, or Adobe Acrobat) to see if the issue persists across all applications.
- This can help identify if the problem is specific to one application’s print settings.
Step 5: Update Firmware and Drivers
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can update it through the HP Smart app available in the App Store or the Embedded Web Server (EWS).
Update Printer Drivers on Mac:
- Update your Mac’s printer drivers. Go to System Preferences > Software Update to check for any available updates for Printer drivers.
Upon following these steps, you should be able to print on A5 paper successfully without any gaps at the top of the page.
I hope the above is helpful
