HP Printer

There are several posts on this forum from people being unable to remove an old printer from HP Smart. I, too, had the same problem and followed all of the suggestions. The only one that worked was to uninstall and reinstall HP Smart.  This has been an ongoing issue for over 2 years now. Surely it can't be beyond the wit of the software engineers to add a "Remove Printer" button or menu item to the application?

Uninstalling and reinstalling cannot be an acceptable solution to removing a printer!

Hi @Bogtastic,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how It's frustrating when basic functionalities like removing a printer from an application aren't readily available. If you're experiencing difficulty removing an old printer from HP Smart, and uninstalling and reinstalling the application seems to be the only effective solution, it indeed highlights a usability issue with the software.

Here are a few additional steps you might consider:

Clearing Cache and Data: Sometimes, clearing the cache and data of the HP Smart app (if used on a mobile device) can help reset its settings and possibly remove the printer.

Checking Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer you're trying to remove isn't set as the default printer on your system. Sometimes, default settings can interfere with the removal process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
