This required remote access of the computer to fix the issue.
I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
- Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
- Select the country.
- Enter the serial of your device.
- Select the country from the drop-down.

I hope that helps.

Before seeing your response, I managed to delete the driver. I think I rebooted the PC and then could delete it.
I then fixed the problem with a solution from another thread: Control Panel; Devices and Settings; Printers & scanners; Add a printer or scanner. Leave until searching finishes, then select The Printer that I want is not listed. Enter IP address of printer in dialog box which appears.
I now have colour printing available on the printer which appears as HP Officejet Pro 6970 in the list of printers. Previously it had FAD and a number attached to the description. This has now gone, and the ability to print colour from my PC appears to have returned.

Thank you for your suggestion.
This is what I did and get back Color option.
1) Firstly, removed printer from Printers and Scanners in Windows 10.
2) Removed all its associated drivers (used printui.exe /s option).
3) But I have HP Smart app installed in my Laptop (Windows 10).
4) Connected Printer to Laptop again using USB Connector.
5) When I visit HP page to download and installed printer driver, I found they are asking to download HP Smart actually, which was previously installed in my laptop. Hence, I did not downloaded again.
6) I open HP Smart app in my Laptop and found it has connected with my Printer and "Deskjet 3835" printer appearing ready for use.
7) I then checked "Printing preference" and found 'Color' and 'Black and white' option is appearing to choose.
😎 I could not able to installed "Firmware" since, during Firmware installion page, it was not showing (not detected) my printer. Don't know, why ?
9) So, in nutshell, other than removing the printer from laptop and reconnect, I did not do anything to get back Color option.
10) Now, I am facing a different problem, where printing quality degraded, I ran Cleaning cartridge, aligned printer all such utilities, but quality appearing very bad. Test Print showing Ink is sufficient, but don't know why printing quality not upto the mark !

HP6970
I have tried everything on this page. There is still NO option to chose color printing, only gray scale. Very frustrated.
EDIT: Just tried color copy, only copied black and white. These are new cartridges, all full.
