Hi @portofino,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Seeing an "Expired Certificate" error on a new HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw can be incredibly frustrating, especially when support channels aren’t accessible. Here's a guide to help you fix the issue yourself:

What’s Happening
The printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) uses a self-signed certificate for secure AirPrint or network printing. When this certificate expires, your computer rejects it, blocking all printing over the network.

Step 1: Power Cycle Your Devices

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Restart your router/network devices.
  3. After 30 seconds, power the printer back on.
  4. Try printing again.
This refreshes connections and can resolve certificate errors.

Step 2: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Go to HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3301fdw | HP® Support.
  2. Download and install the latest firmware update.
  3. Restart the printer and retry printing.
A firmware patch often renews or replaces expired certificates.

Step 3: Regenerate Certificate via EWS

This is the most reliable solution:

  1. Find your printer’s IP address (via touchscreen → Network/Wi-Fi info).
  2. Open a browser and connect to https://[printer_IP].
    • If it warns that the certificate has expired, click Advanced > Proceed (in Chrome) or similar.
  3. In EWS, go to Networking → Advanced/Certificates.
  4. Click Configure (or Generate/Regenerate Certificate).
  5. Choose Create a new self-signed certificate, set a long validity period (e.g., 10 years), then click Apply.
  6. Wait for confirmation (up to 3 minutes) and then restart the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
