Product: HP DeskJet 4100e All-in-One
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and older

My wife purchased a HP DeskJet 4100e All-in-One printer for her MacBook Air laptop. a) The serial number on bottom of the printer is SNPRC-1900-01. But HP thinks this a computer, not printer. b) To register I find the the drop down menus for fields such as time zone don't work, the email field is skipped, and at top of display is "User is deactivated". c)  When I enter HP DeskJet 4100e All-in-One for the printer, the HP website knows of no such model.

This is not the serial number of the printer, it’s S/N is located at the back of your printer as described below:
