Hi @Johnbobs,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 6962 printer's settings are locked by an administrator and you're unable to perform a factory reset, you may need to follow these steps.
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again. Sometimes, this simple action can resolve certain issues.
- Default Passwords: Try using default administrative passwords if you haven't changed them. Often, HP printers have default administrative passwords that can be used to access settings. You can find these passwords in the printer's manual or on the HP website.
- Contact Administrator: If your printer is connected to a network and the settings are locked by an administrator, reach out to your network administrator for assistance. They may have locked the settings for a specific reason, and they can help you unlock them or perform the necessary reset.
- Hardware Reset: As a last resort, some printers have a physical reset button or combination of buttons that can be used to reset the printer to its factory settings. Refer to your printer's manual for guidance on how to perform a hardware reset.
Remember to back up any important settings or data before performing a factory reset, as it will erase all custom settings and configurations.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
