In the last few days I set up a 7302 wireless printer. It's generally working to print from my hp windows 11 laptop and iPhone 13 pro phone. Since most of my photos are on the phone and I've only tried printing photos using the HP Smart app on the iPhone. I successfully printed a 4x6 borderless print on hp photo paper, but am having issues with 5x7. I've done two different 5x7 prints and they are each properly borderless on three edges. But the bottom edge on each has a half inch border. Its unclear if this is a problem with the printer or the iOS software but something is wrong. These photos were in portrait orientation. I presume the border would on a side for a landscape print.

Hi @sherip99
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering an issue with borderless printing on your HP 7302, particularly for 5x7 prints. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the unwanted border issue:
1. Check Print Settings:
- In the HP Smart app on your iPhone, ensure you select Borderless printing for the 5x7 option.
- Verify that the correct paper size (5x7) is selected in the print settings.
2. Adjust Image Orientation:
- Make sure your photo is properly oriented for printing. Sometimes, portrait-oriented images can result in unexpected borders when printed if the settings don't align with the image size.
3. Use Correct Paper Type:
- Ensure you’re using the correct type of photo paper that supports borderless printing. Double-check the specifications for your HP photo paper.
4. Update HP Smart App:
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed. An update might resolve any bugs or issues related to printing.
5. Check Printer Settings:
- Access the printer settings through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel to confirm that borderless printing is enabled.
6. Test Different Images:
- Try printing a different image to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if it’s a problem with the specific photo.
7. Print from a Different Source:
- If possible, try printing the same image from your laptop instead of your iPhone. This can help identify whether the issue is with the app or the printer itself.
8. Calibration and Maintenance:
- Perform a printer calibration or maintenance check. Sometimes, printers can have alignment issues that affect print output.
9. Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website to check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

For anyone else dealing with this issue on a 7300 series printer, I will add that my 5x7 photo paper was the HP Premium Plus Photo paper which is an 80lb photo paper. When loading 5x7 paper in the paper tray, the HP software expects it to be loaded in portrait orientation. The 5 inch wide heavier photo paper doesn't feed quite right. It feeds fine if the paper is rotated so that the 7 inch wide side gets fed in for printing. Unfortunately the HP Smart software doesn't currently support a 7x5 paper vs a 5x7 one. Through trial and error I found I could print photos to the premium paper without an unwanted border using the Windows non-Smart driver and a custom paper I set up for 7x5. This does not resolve printing from IOS, but it does show that the printer is capable of using premium 5x7 paper correctly (with custom settings and non-standard paper loading) from Windows 10/11. Since my original post was for IOS, I am not marking the issue resolved, but hoping HP will either add custom options or a choice for which orientation paper up to 8 1/2 inches wide is loaded to its HP Smart app.
