Hi @Benp2 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering issues downloading the printer app because it requires macOS 11 and your system is running macOS 10.15 Catalina, there are a few things you can try:

Check for Alternative Drivers: Visit the official HP website and search for alternative drivers or software that might be compatible with macOS Catalina. Sometimes, manufacturers provide universal drivers that work with multiple macOS versions.

Manual Installation: If the printer supports standard protocols like AirPrint or IPP, you might be able to set up the printer manually without the need for additional software. Check the printer manual or HP's support documentation for instructions on how to do this.

Update macOS: Consider updating your macOS to the latest version within the Catalina series. Sometimes, incremental updates within the same major version can bring compatibility improvements. To check for updates, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update.

Check for Third-Party Drivers: Some third-party printer drivers might be available that work with your printer model and macOS Catalina. You can explore websites like Gutenprint (https://gimp-print.sourceforge.io/) for alternative printer drivers.

Virtual Machine or Dual Boot: If your printer absolutely requires macOS 11, you might consider setting up a virtual machine or creating a dual-boot system with a newer version of macOS that supports the required software.

Temporary System Upgrade: You can temporarily upgrade your macOS to a newer version, install the printer app, and then revert back to macOS Catalina if needed. However, be cautious with this approach, and ensure you have a backup of your system before attempting any major changes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
