Hello. I've got the error on my printer that says "The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed." and as such, I can't do anything with my printer at all. I can't print, can't scan, can't copy, nothing. This happened overnight one night and my printer has been effectively bricked since then. Things I've tried:

1. Performing hard reset (unplugging, draining all remaining charge, plugging directly into the wall, etc.)

2. removing the printhead and cleaning the electrical contacts

3. Updating firmware, but with printer in an error state, firmware update fails.

My question is, how do you update the firmware when the printer is in an error state? I've tried both over the network and through USB cable, no luck.

Hi,

While during some error conditions you may be able to update firmware, such an error condition prevents updating a such and this is expected.

Try following below steps to reset the printer, connect it directly to another wall socket and check:

If the error persists I afraid it requires servicing or replacing the printer.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the printer reset is the first thing I tried. No luck with that, which is why I moved on to try to clean the printhead electrical contacts.

Any other way this could be a software issue? Any other way to update the firmware?

Thanks.

I afraid not,

This is a hardware failure which requires servicing the printer, it cannot be resolved with any software or firmware change.
