HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer

There was an upgrade to the HP App. Now when I open the app on my MacBook pro laptop to fax or scan the screen is covered by notice about requesting network access to set up printer. I have printer set up and do not want to give app network access. No way to dismiss this screen to use fax and scan functions.

If I cannot get resolution I will file complaint with better biz bureau for privacy issues and any other regulatory agebct I can find. How do we fix this???

Welcome to the HP English Community --

I get it -- agreeing to use any app or software on any of your devices can come with agreeing to access you might not want to provide.

In so much that I aware --

Use of this or any HP owned application is voluntary.

That just means that it is my understanding that should you not agree to the terms of use, you have the option to not use the application.

That comment is a personal opinion -- it is not meant to change your mind or conflict with how you decide to move forward.

We cannot respond to threats of legal action --  The HP Community does not speak for HP nor can we comment on HP's legal obligations or responses to comments of this type.

Were it mine to do, I might not use the application and look for other ways to use the printer hardware.

Perhaps close the app, restart your computer,

Without opening the software, uninstall the unwanted application from your Mac computer.

For others reading, find the HP public documents are available in the application.

General Example - HP Smart - Windows

Open the HP Smart application > Click the "Settings" (gear) wheel > Open section "About"

Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond to my question. I will print it and read it more carefully.

Yes, agreements are voluntary. But in this case, without using the app there is no way to scan or fax with this printer - and while I do not frequently engage in either, I do use these functions from time to time. I bought a printer with print, scan and fax functionality for a reason. And now I find that without giving up privacy and allowing the app to have access to my hard drive, I cannot use the scan or fax functions.

I do not know if this is the case with all printers, but I will certainly check into this as I am not comfortable with this agreement. I understand that using an app has its perils, but this is not a free product - I paid for it -  and now I am forced to give up privacy to use the product.

Thank you again. Wishing you the best.

To be clear - I have yet to find a way to scan or fax with this printer in any other way besides using the app. So the products functionality is essentially crippled and useless to me. I am not pleased to have purchased a printer that loses 2/3 of its functionality unless I give up my privacy of my computer's data.

Thank you again.
