@Dan_12321, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding "Printer device is offline" error!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Check Printer Connection

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the computer. If you are using a USB connection, make sure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • For wireless connections, check that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.

Restart Devices

  • Turn off your printer and computer. Wait for a few seconds and then turn them on again.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn the printer off by pressing the power button. After a few seconds, turn it back on and check if the printer status changes to online.

Set Printer to Online Status

  • Go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers."
  • Right-click on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28-M31 printer and select "See what's printing."
  • In the new window, click on "Printer" in the menu bar and ensure that "Use Printer Offline" is unchecked.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your printer model (HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28-M31) and download the latest drivers and firmware updates.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers on your computer.

Clear Print Queue

  • Sometimes the print queue can cause issues. In the "Devices and Printers" section, right-click on your printer and select "See what's printing."
  • Cancel all documents in the queue.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
